Adam Slater is the Founding and Managing Partner of Slater Slater Schulman LLP and leads the Firm’s litigation practice. He has achieved successful resolutions in some of the most challenging cases in the country, and his recent work centers around complex, historical sexual abuse cases involving youth organizations, religious institutions, medical institutions, and schools and universities.
Adam is a powerful advocate for survivors of sexual assault. His work on behalf of thousands of Boy Scouts of America clients nationwide resulted in a record $2.46 billion settlement, the largest sexual abuse settlement in U.S. history. Adam co-founded the Coalition of Abused Scouts for Justice, served as a lead negotiator for the reorganization plan, and was appointed to serve on the seven-person Settlement Trust Advisory Committee tasked with overseeing the distribution of claims as fairly, efficiently and expeditiously as possible. Critically, Adam obtained commitments from the Boy Scouts of America to implement vital safety measures and protections for Scouts moving forward.
Under Adam’s direction, Slater Slater Schulman filed approximately 1,800 cases under New York State’s Adult Survivors Act, the most of any law firm, as well as more than 720 Child Victims Act cases in New York and more than 8,400 CVA cases nationally. Across the country, Slater Slater Schulman filed more than 500 cases against the State of California and federal government for sexual assaults committed within prison walls. The firm’s Los Angeles office also represents more than 1,500 survivors of sexual abuse at juvenile detention facilities, including a notorious “House of Horrors” children’s emergency shelter called MacLaren Hall.
In 2021, Adam reached a $71.5 million settlement on behalf of 79 former patients who were sexually assaulted by predatory gynecologist Robert Hadden. He has distinguished himself as a force to be reckoned with on rideshare litigation, representing hundreds of survivors of sexual assaults committed in Uber and Lyft vehicles, while battling major tech and transportation giants to obtain greater rider protections.
As a Firm leader, Adam has played an integral role in the expansion of Slater Slater Schulman LLP, growing its presence from a single office in New York to more than 10 offices in 9 states. A native New Yorker, Adam’s first clients were survivors of the 9/11 terror attacks, which set him on a course in his career to focus on high-impact cases that not only help individuals, but transform organizations and institutions for the better for future generations.
Throughout his career, Adam has received numerous awards and accolades for his exceptional legal work, including recognition as one of Forbes’ America’s Top 200 Lawyers (2024), Lawdragon’s 500 Global Plaintiff Lawyers (2024) and Best Lawyers in America® (2025).
